PCM Interview: Logan Phippen, cyclist of Team Novo Nordisk

The goals and dreams of Logan Phippen

Logan Phippen’s journey with Team Novo Nordisk began after his diagnosis. Determined to show the world that he could live a normal life and pursue a professional cycling career despite having diabetes, Logan approached the team to join their elite mountain bike team. However, he was offered a spot on the road development team instead, where he spent five seasons. His strong performances allowed him to make the leap to the main team in 2021, fulfilling his dream. As a result, the American cyclist has had the opportunity to compete in the biggest races worldwide, in countries such as Belgium:

I really like racing in Belgium. The race I enjoyed the most was the Baloise Belgium Tour in 2021. I think that was maybe my biggest race in terms of who was also in the field. I was riding next to Philippe Gilbert one day, and I had to pat him on the back and say, ‘You’re one of my heroes.’ It was a great experience. But again, I love racing in Belgium. It’s just fantastic.

It is therefore not surprising that he includes Belgium among his biggest goals… but not only that:

My biggest goal is to be doing Grand Tours. That, and the bigger one-day classics in Belgium. This year, I got to do a couple of the semi-classics, so I would like to continue on that trajectory.
