11. Sepp Kuss – chosen by Joe Laverick
Sepp Kuss has been a loyal lieutenant to Jumbo-Visma since joining the team back in 2018. Kuss came into this year’s Tour with one job, support Primož Roglič in the mountains. Once the sloveninan crashed out of the race, and Pogačar’s lead became virtually unassailable, the Jumbo-Visma boys went out on the attack. It was a match made in heaven for Kuss, the man from Durango, Colorado, who made Andorra his foster home in Europe. With his friends on the side of the road, he crested the horribly steep Col de Beixalis in pole-position, and after a daring descent into Andorra-La-Vella, he took the biggest win of his career in front of a ‘home’ crowd. Added to his domestique work for Jonas Vingegaard in the mountains, Kuss is one of the MVPs of Tour 2021.
