There could never be any other name occupying the top spot on this list. Jonas Vingegaard was unanimously named, by critics and fans alike, as the Tour’s biggest revelation, for the way he filled the leadership void left at Jumbo-Visma by Primož Roglič’s drop-out to reach 2nd place overall. Aside from his impressive run at Mont Ventoux, which left all rivals, including Tadej Pogačar, in trouble, what surprised me most were his time-trial displays. If his evolution continues, he coild turn into a serious candidate for great turns and, who knows, a worthy rival of Pogačar himself. But for now, it’s important that Vingegaard doesn’t give in to the pressure and confirms next year that these three weeks were not a fluke.
