Jimmy Whelan’s calling card

Jimmy Whelan arrived in Portugal and joined Glassdrive/Q8/Anicolor, led by Rúben Pereira, at the beginning of May, completing the 2023 roster of the team that won last year’s edition of the Volta a Portugal. For some, the name might have gone unnoticed, and that’s how Whelan introduces himself:

I’m a climber, but I also enjoy a course similar to Liège-Bastogne-Liège, for example, more hilly. I’m definitely not a sprinter, I can tell you that much. But yes, I like a hard day that’s long, like often the one day races are quite like. I also really like the heat, it’s one of my strengths.
